Powers of Attorney

Powers of Attorney

Property and Personal Care

As people age, they may become incapable of taking care of their affairs and making important decisions regarding property and personal health care.

Appointing a substitute decision maker through a power of attorney while the person is still capable is very important. I prepare powers of attorney for property and personal care, which are essential for protection. I highly recommend that individuals have a will and powers of attorney in place.

A power of attorney for property refers to the power to make financial decisions in the best interest of the grantor. These decisions may include managing the person’s income and investments on a day-to-day basis, payment of expenses and decisions about the person’s place of residence as well.

A power of attorney for personal care refers to the power to make medical decisions in the best interest of the grantor. These decisions may include a course of medical or drug treatment and in extreme cases whether or not to prolong life.
